Guthrie Residence

This project is a design proposal for a home inspired by Irving Gill’s design principles, emphasizing pure forms, rigid straight lines, contrasting arches within voids, and the use of landscape as ornamentation. The result is a simplistic yet elegantly complex two-story single-family home over a basement level. The structure is conceived as an arrangement of prisms connected by a central circulatory void, which fills the interior with natural light and shifting shadows, maximizing the potential of contemporary materials and California’s climate.
